Inauguration of FREES by Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri.V.S.Achuthanandan inaugurated  the G2G and G2C application FREES (FRIENDS  Re-engineered and Enterprise Enabled Software )  on  24/06/2010 at FRIENDS centre, Sabhalyam Complex, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram. FREES is an open source and enterprise enabled version of FRIENDS (Fast Reliable Instant Effective Network for Disbursement of Services). Hon. CM Shri.Achuthanandan said FRIENDS had emerged as a model to extend the benefits of Information Technology to the common man. FREES which has been implemented in the pilot location would  be extended to FRIENDS centers in other districts and all Akshaya centers across the state.

 

Dr.Ajaya kumar IAS, Principal . Secretary (IT) in his welcome speech gave an overview of FREES and how it benefits to  departments and citizens. He also said  the launch of FREES would enable FRIENDS to add more services. Dr.Ajaya kumar appreciated the efforts taken by NIC Kerala especially Mr. JayaKumar TD .

 

Dr.K.Santhana .Raman, State Informatics Officer inaugurated the information kiosk set up in the complex  to get general information to the public. Dr. Rathan Kelkar, Director Kerala State IT Mission,Aisha Baker, ward councilor and Mr. Rajeev chaladan, FREES co-ordinator were also   present on the occasion.

-Any centre any Payment
-Live data fetch for  Vehicle Tax, Water Bill and Property Tax from  departmental servers.
-Collection details transferred to  MVD server  then and there online.
-Downloading of collection data by participating departments.
-Bill data uploading by  respective departments.
-New service/Agency can be added  without changing software.
-Three modes of Collections - Web Service Driven, Demand driven   and offline mode
-All collections using  single user interface
-Collection at Akshaya Centers
-Reconciliation of accounts
